Biography
Shilpi Dabral is a Bangalore-based visual artist whose concept-driven geometric abstractions explore feminine energy, resilience, inner peace, and the emotional experiences that shape the human journey.
Her work begins with meaning rather than image. Starting from an emotion, reflection, or idea, she transforms intangible experiences into visual narratives through a distinctive language of geometric forms, layered textures, and harmonious colour relationships. Balancing structure with emotion, her paintings invite viewers to pause, reflect, and discover personal connections within the work.
Shilpi's artistic journey evolved significantly during her years in Dubai, where exposure to a vibrant multicultural art community helped shape her creative voice and deepen her commitment to contemporary abstraction. Today, her work is guided by an ongoing exploration of emotional truth, spirituality, human connection, and the quiet strength found within everyday life.
Working primarily with acrylics and textured mediums, she creates contemplative compositions that resonate across cultures and experiences. Her artworks have been exhibited internationally and are held in private collections across India, the UAE, and Europe.
Beyond her studio practice, Shilpi actively supports humanitarian initiatives through art, contributing to causes including UNICEF India and Dubai Cares.

Artist Statement
My artistic journey began in childhood as a simple and joyful form of self-expression. Over time, that instinctive connection evolved into a deeper visual language shaped by life experiences, inner reflection, and a growing curiosity about the emotions and stories that connect us as human beings.
I do not begin with an image. I begin with a feeling, a question, or an idea. My work starts with meaning and gradually evolves into visual form. Through geometric abstraction, I explore themes of feminine energy, resilience, inner peace, transformation, and the emotional experiences that shape our lives.
Geometry serves as both structure and metaphor within my practice. Individual shapes, patterns, and layered forms come together to create visual narratives that reflect connection, balance, and the relationship between the inner and outer worlds. Rather than depicting specific moments or places, my paintings seek to express emotions and experiences that often exist beyond words.
Texture plays an essential role in my work. Through layering and intuitive mark-making, I build surfaces that carry a sense of depth, memory, and presence. These textured spaces invite viewers to slow down, look closely, and engage with the work both visually and emotionally.
My years in Dubai were instrumental in shaping my artistic voice. Immersed in a vibrant multicultural environment, I was encouraged to experiment, expand my visual language, and embrace abstraction as a powerful means of expression.
Through my evolving body of work, I seek to transform intangible emotions into visual narratives that resonate across cultures and personal experiences. Each painting becomes an invitation to pause, reflect, and discover one's own meaning within the work.
